Sheila Miller is an ISHTA-trained teacher of yoga, meditation, and yoga nidra based in New York City.
Sheila Miller, PhD, RYT,-500, ERYT-200, first encountered the Upanishads in 1994 and has been a student of yogic philosophy ever since. She is a professor of mathematics at City University of New York and researches the effects of meditation and yoga practice on learning, communities, and health. She is grateful to have found ISHTA and completed her 500-Hour teacher training with Alan Finger and Jean Koerner. Sheila is also certified to teach Yoga Nidra (from the California Ayurveda College and Sivananda Yoga jointly), and yoga to combat veterans with post-traumatic stress (through Yoga Warriors International). Sheila believes that one need not be strong, flexible, calm, or balanced in order to begin practicing yoga. The practice teaches us how to attentively, gently explore and inhabit this one moment we are living now. Sheila welcomes students of all backgrounds to her classes.
